Advance Wars DS

If you have a Nintendo DS, you must buy Advance Wars DS. It's the best DS game besides Nintendogs. By the way, my Nintendog is famished and parched.

By the way, I love downloading podcasts. Actually, I download Loveline from the lovelinearchive.com and listen to it at work. I listen to Loveline, Podtacular, and Major Nelson podcasts. Oh, and Engadget's podcast, too.

Halo 2 Action

I just played the best game I've ever played. I won! Then I did pretty well in a sniper game.

I'm so glad it's finally Friday. For a four day work week, this one took forever.

I don't have much to say today. I saw the new iPod nano on TV last night. Looks pretty cool. Really tiny, too. Engadget had a nice write up about the demise of the iPod mini. I'll add links later. Don't want to right now.

Anyway, my sister is getting married tomorrow. That's exciting. I'm the official photographer. Maybe I'll post some of the pics on here. Maybe not.

I get to leave work early today! Noon baby! Gotta love that.

What else is going on?

Nothing.

Peace out!

Wi-Fi Hotspot

I've been reading a lot online about the new wi-fi connection service that Nintendo will be offering for the DS this fall. I'm excited about it, although it appears that only Mario Kart and Animal Crossing will be online. (Also Tony Hawk American Wasteland will be online, but I don't count that just yet.) This is great for us DS owners who want to be online. I would like to hear about Nintendogs being online or Advance Wars DS being online. Online functionality was actually pulled from Metroid Prime:Hunters. Watch the "trailer" for the WCS here.

I would actually just like to hear if the DS will be able to connect to the Xbox 360. After listening to some Major Nelson "blogcasts" today, I've learned that the iPod, PSP and practially any other device will connect seamlessly to the 360. Of course, there was no mention of the DS. I've e-mailed Major Nelson with this question, so maybe he will respond.

I honestly think that the full potential of the DS has not been tapped. I love Nintendogs, Advance Wars, and even my Tiger Woods game. I had heard that some PDA type software would be available for it, which would be awesome. Also, there was DS Speak, which basically turned the DS into a Skype phone. How cool is that?

And then there's the Play-Yan, which is only available in Japan. It plugs into your GBA port (or your GBA SP) and turns your handheld into a MP3 player. All you need is a SD card filled with MP3's or even movie files. Yes, it will play movie files when properly encoded. My wife imported me a Play-Yan, and I love it. I haven't played movies on it yet, but that's not why I wanted it.

Basically, I would just like the DS to get some more love from the rest of the gaming community. At least the respect it deserves.

Mind Blowing Insights

I just realized something the other day. My son will be playing video games on the next generation of systems. The Xbox 360 or Nintendo Revolution will be the equivalent to my Atari 2600 and NES! Does that not blow your mind? I can't even imagine that he would want to play anything from when I was young just because he'll be so spoiled with what we have now. Pong? He'll be owning in Halo 3 or 4!

Oot and Aboot

This is my first-born baby. Buffy. She's so sweet. Pretty damn spoiled, though. She gets me up pretty early on the weekends. My wife doesn't like getting up that early, so we get up and let her sleep. I usually get online and do things (like I am now) or play on Xbox Live.

We went to Comp USA last night and got a great deal on a 100 pack of CD-R's. Only $12.99! Anyway, my sister was with us, so we also went to Target and Wal-Mart. Got home around 11:30. But, we had fun. And my sister got a new router for $4.99, so it was win-win.

Nintendogs!

Nintendogs has sold around 250,000 units within its first week of release.

Retailers are reporting that Nintendogs, made exclusively for the hand-held Nintendo DS, has sold out in numerous locations across the country, and Nintendo will deliver more shipments as soon as possible. The three versions of Nintendogs and the DS unit itself consistently rank at the
top of Amazon.com's best-selling list of all video game products.

"Nearly 15 percent of all DS owners bought Nintendogs in just a week, a virtually unprecedented adoption rate for any title on an established system," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "And it's also helping sell new DS hardware. Coupled with a price drop to $129.99, retailers are reporting DS sales up between one and a half and three times previous levels, and last week DS comfortably outsold our portable competitors."

Nintendogs lets owners train and care for lifelike puppies using the DS system's touch screen and microphone. It launched in the United States on Aug. 22.

Audioslave

Just when you think rock is dying, along comes Audioslave to breathe new life into it. The irony being that these guys have been in the business for quite a while now. Through conflict and turmoil. Everytime you thought their previous bands were done, there came a new record. But these guys are the resilient ones. They love to play. And they rock! I really think that, with all the "supergroups" that have come along recently (Velvet Revolver anyone?), Audioslave will be the best and have the most longevity. And they don't just sound like Rage with a new singer or Soundgarden with anew guitarist. They're original and one of the best out there right now.
